Hickory Valley
Although Hickory Valley dates its beginnings as a town from 1856, it actually rivals Bolivar as one of the oldest towns in Hardeman County. Its origin dates back to the merging of three independent pioneer settlements in the area that were founded by William Shinault before 1820, Drury Wood in 1826 and William Barnett in 1827.
Hornsby
Hornsby is located in central Hardeman County along Highway 64, east of Bolivar. A new 4-lane by-pass is currently under construction that will skirt the town to the south.
Middleton
Pocahontas
Founded in 1828 as Ray’s Bluff, the beautiful little town of Pocahontas straddles the Hardeman-McNairy County line east of Middleton on Highway 57 in the southeastern corner of the county. It is the county’s only unincorporated town and has no form of government or taxes. There are 671 residents registered to vote in the Pocahontas Precinct.
Saulsbury
Saulsbury is in the south-central portion of Hardeman County on Highway 57. A mayor and board of six aldermen, elected every four years, govern the town’s 99 residents.
Silerton
Silerton, the smallest incorporated town in Hardman County, is located in the northeastern portion of the county amid beautiful, rolling hills. It is governed by a mayor and board of four aldermen elected every four years. The town has a population of 102 residents.
Toone
Nestled in the rolling hills of northern Hardeman County, the town of Toone was once home to the Chickasaw Indian tribe.
